Shoulder Set

The shoulder set is done in three distinct steps. Each step consists of a different sweep, a different hold point and one common ending point at the tip of the shoulder, shown as "E" on the diagram. Use care not to touch the fingers of one hand with the fingers of the other hand while performing the procedure. It is practical and expedient for an associate to interchange the "hold" hand with the "sweep" hand during this procedure. Experience has shown that switching hands does not impair results.

Although the apparent distress may be experienced on only one side of the body, always perform the procedure on both shoulders, because the sholders are structured to work in conjunction with each other.

Step 1: With the first two fingers of one hand, hold just below the tip of the shoulder at point "1". With the first two fingers of the other hand, sweep down line "1-a", beginning at the center of the neck at the base of the skull, and continuing down the neck to the top of the "big bone". Then turn and continue across the back of the muscle at the top of the shoulder to "E".
Step 2: With the fingers of one hand, hold point "2" which is located on the back of the shoulder at the soft area below the shoulder bone, directly above the armpit. With the fingers of the other hand, sweep down line "2-a" beginning again at the center of the neck at the base of the skull. This time continue sweeping down the back directly on the spine to a point just above the bottom of the shoulder blade. Curve up and across the shoulder blade, ending at "E."
Step 3: With the fingers of one hand, hold point "3" which is located on the front of the shoulder just below the shoulder bone, directly above the armpit. With the fingers of the other hand, sweep down line "3-a" beginning on the muscle behind and beneath the earlobe. Sweep down the neck and across the front of the muscle at the top of the shoulder ending at "E".

Step 1: Hold at "1"; two fingers of other hand sweep line "1-a"
Step 2: Hold at "2"; two fingers of other hand sweep line "2-a"
Step 3: Hold at "3"; two fingers of other hand sweep line "3-a"
