Bio-Touch is considered an aid in relieving the symptoms of colitis, which may include
Colitis is inflammation (swelling) of the colon (large intestine). There are several types of colitis that are named according to their cause.
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic disease that causes inflammation and bleeding ulcers in the lining of the colon. It usually begins in the rectum and then spreads into the colon. UC occurs when the body overreacts to bacteria and substances in the colon. It is the most common cause of colitis, but it is not known exactly what causes it.
Other types of colitis include pseudomembranous colitis (PC), which is caused by an overgrowth of a certain type of bacteria (Clostridiodes difficile or “c. diff”), ischemic colitis (IC), which is caused by a restriction of blood flow to the colon, microscopic colitis, which is when the colitis can only be identified by looking at cells under a microscope, allergic colitis in infants, and colitis caused by an infection from bacteria, a virus or a parasite (food poisoning).
While each type of colitis has different risk factors, symptoms can be similar and include diarrhea, dehydration, chills, fever, vomiting, unexpected weight loss, bloody stool, abdominal pain and bloating, and an urgent, persistent need to have a bowel movement.
Diagnosis of colitis involves a full physical exam along with tests like a colonoscopy (threading a camera through the anus to view the colon), stool sample, imaging tests (CT or MRI scans), sigmoidoscopy (threading a camera through the anus to view the rectum and lower colon), and barium enema (an x-ray of the colon after it is injected with barium to better see the images).
Treatment may depend on the type of colitis a person has but can include bowel rest (limiting what is consumed by mouth) and various medications to help control the symptoms and treat any infections. When these measures do not work, surgery to remove some or all of the colon or rectum may be necessary.
There are ways to help prevent colitis from flaring up, including dietary changes, reducing stress (through activities like meditation, yoga, and/or mindfulness), and increasing physical activity.
Bio-Touch has been shown to reduce stress and pain and can be used as a powerful complement to any other treatments for colitis.
