Breastfeeding, or nursing, is the process by which human breast milk is fed to a child. Breast milk may be from the breast, or may be pumped and fed to the infant. The World Health Organization recommends that breastfeeding begin within the first hour of a baby’s life and continue as often and as much as the baby wants.
Breastmilk is the ideal food for infants. It is safe, clean and contains antibodies which help protect against many common childhood illnesses. Breastmilk provides all the energy and nutrients that the infant needs for the first months of life, and it continues to provide up to half or more of a child’s nutritional needs during the second half of the first year, and up to one third during the second year of life.
There can be, however, some issues that can make breastfeeding uncomfortable. These may include, sore nipples or breasts, low or oversupply of milk, unsettled baby or frequent feeding, baby refuses the breast or has a tongue tie, engorgement or plugged duct in the breast. A big part of difficulties with breastfeeding issues is stress.
Bio-Touch can help to support breastfeeding as well as address any difficulties that may arise, especially with stress reduction. While not a substitute for standard medical care, Bio-Touch is an effective complement to medical protocols. Family members and friends can help each other feel better using Bio-Touch, without being concerned about negative side effects.
